Privacy Policy

This page explains what data is processed when you visit this site, who receives it, and what choices you have. This is a product review site: nothing is sold here, there is no account, no order and no payment information. If you go on to buy from the BOLLSEN store, that purchase is covered by the store’s own privacy policy, not this one.

2. What is collected

When you open a page, the server automatically records the technical data your browser sends: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, browser type and operating system. This is used to deliver the page, secure the server and find faults.

Beyond that, the advertising and cookie processing described below applies. We do not collect your name, mailing address, phone number or payment details, because there is no form on this site that asks for them. We do not run article comments or a newsletter.

3. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. This site uses technical cookies needed to remember your consent choice, and advertising measurement cookies described below. You can prevent them from being stored through your browser settings; some functions may then not work fully.

4. Google Ads and Google Analytics

This site uses services from Google LLC, loaded through Google Tag Manager. Your page visit, IP address, browser data and the identifiers stored in cookies are recorded. The purpose is measuring advertising campaigns and building advertising audiences, including remarketing — showing ads on other sites in Google’s network to people who have already visited this one.

You can prevent this with browser settings that block third-party cookies, by turning off personalized ads in Google’s ad settings, or with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Google’s privacy notice is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

5. TikTok pixel

This site uses a measurement pixel from TikTok Inc. The pixel loads a script from analytics.tiktok.com and stores the cookies _ttp, ttcsid and _tt_enable_cookie in your browser. It records the page view and passes it to TikTok for advertising measurement and audience building.

You can prevent this with browser settings that block third-party cookies. TikTok’s privacy policy is at https://www.tiktok.com/legal/page/us/privacy-policy/en.

6. Server-side advertising measurement

Some measurement events do not go from your browser straight to the advertising providers. They go first to a server operated on our behalf, and from there the events are forwarded to the companies named above. The data involved is the same as browser-side measurement: the address of the page visited, the IP address, browser data and the identifiers stored in cookies.

7. This site’s own cookies

In addition to the third-party cookies above, this site stores:

wt_consent (365 days) — stores your cookie choice. Without it you would be asked on every visit.

bollsen_uid (365 days) — a random identifier that lets events from the same browser be linked when advertising campaigns are measured. It contains no name, email address or any other direct identifier.

_bollsen_epg_attr (90 days) — stored only if you arrive from an advertising link. It holds click identifiers (gclid, gbraid, wbraid, msclkid, fbclid, ttclid), utm_* parameters and the referring address, so it can be established which campaign led to the visit.

8. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to request that it be deleted, to request that it be corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. The advertising measurement described above may qualify as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under that law.

To exercise any of these rights, or to opt out of sharing, email us at the address in section 1. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. You may also use the browser-level Global Privacy Control signal, which we honor as an opt-out request.

We do not sell personal information for money.

9. Other US state privacy laws

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and Texas — have comparable rights to access, correct, delete and opt out of targeted advertising. The same contact address applies.

10. Children

This site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

11. Ad industry opt-outs

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry programs at https://optout.aboutads.info and https://optout.networkadvertising.org.

12. Where data is processed

The site is operated from servers in the European Union, and the publisher is established in Germany. Data may therefore be processed both in the EU and, through the advertising providers named above, in the United States.

13. How long data is kept

Server log data is kept for a short period and then deleted or anonymized. The cookies above have the lifetimes stated with each. Data passed to advertising providers is subject to their own retention periods, stated in their notices.

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page.
